Hi all,
I hope someone can help me. I bought a SilverCrest USB video grabber several years ago with the intention of digitising my VHS video cassettes. On the box it says 'For easily digitising analogue video recordings'. Intentions were good, but it didn't happen.
But now, with Covid-19 and a long winter ahead I thought there would never be more or a better time to tackle the job.
I have a Hitachi DV-PF3E(UK) DVD/VCR Combo (DVD playback not record), a laptop running Windows 10, the kit that was in the box, a DVD (Cyber Link Power Director 12), which I have downloaded. a SCART connector, Red, Yellow, White AV leads and S-Video connectors. I have connected everything up but cannot access the output from the VCR on Power director on my computer screen.
I can get the camera from the computer screen but not the VCR. I am probably doing something very stupid wrong, but I am a technophobe. I have looked at the help section, but could find nothing that mentioned how to upload VHS recordings to the computer.
If anyone out there can help I would be very grateful.

This video may help: https://youtu.be/ii_0Qhon6Ys?t=112 . As shown at 1 min. 52 sec in the video, go to the Capture tab of PD12 and click the analog TV button which is the third button on the top left. That is the only button that will allow capture from the setup. Reply

Thanks I will try this tomorrow but still unsure as it seemed to skip over the settings needed in about a second. Will try and let you know how I get on.

This is good that you are making progress and getting something on the PD12 capture preview window. Try this: Leave the S-Video disconnected. Connect a yellow rca composite video cable from the scarts adapter to the SilverCrest USB video grabber. Play the vcr with a recorded tape in it. If there is no picture then click on Settings/Plolaris Video Capture and a Driver window with tabs should popup. Change the setting from S-Video to composite. If needed click on the tuner tab to change from NTSC to one of the PAL settings. Change until one of the PAL settings gives you the best picture. Write all this down for future reference. Reply

Your advice has worked a treat, and I have now been able to make a start on digitising my old VHS tapes.
Once again thanks

I purchased the above from Lidl. I believe it comes with PowerDirector Version 1.
I have just intalled it on my new Acer Laptop running Windows 10/ When I try to open it the following message appears:
'PowerDirector can only run under 1024x768 High Color (16 bit) resolution or higher'
How do I overcome this problem please?

Silvercrest Usb Video Grabber Software Download Mac

Sep 16, 2015 11:03 Click on the word PowerDirector on the top right of the screen and a popup windows displays with the powerdirectior build and version. Let us know what it is. Afterwards, click on the up arrow just left of the word powerdirector to check for an update that you might need.
I guess the message indicates that your laptop display resolution is set below 1024x768. You can choose 16 or 32 bit color setting from the internal graphics card. If you cannot do this, then attach a Dxdiag.txt of that pc. See this link for Part B: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page . We'll try to help you out then.

Not sure which screen you are referring to as I cannot open Power Director. When I right clickon the short cut and open properties it says there are no previous versions available.
The laptop is 64 bit.
What and where is Dxdiag.txt please?
That's about all I can tell you at the moment,

Let us know what is the resolution that your laptop screen is set to. You have indicated that the error message is that the screen resolution is presently set below 1024x768. Some individuals do set their screens at lower resolutions in order to see larger fonts and larger text size. If you don't know the resolution then follow the link for instruction given earlier for producing the dxdiag.txt. You don't need to post it here. Just read it yourself. If you need help then ask someone local that is familiar with laptops. You may want to contact Cyberlink support also. This is only a users forum.
The Dxdiag.txt gives us the information on your hardware to see if it is suitable for capturing video as set. We don't know why you think powerdirector version 1 is given to you. Could it be version 10? We need correct information in order to help.

I have not investigated the link that has been posted and am not going to do so but a #1 post trying to get people to go to an obfuscated URL is highly suspect!
